VOLUNTEER FOR FIRST
Volunteers make up 99% of the FIRST workforce.
FIRST hosts 3,600+ events around the globe each year. These events are made possible through the support of event volunteers. There are various event volunteer roles ranging from fun squads and safety glass monitoring to judging, emcees and referees.
Volunteers are essential to making FIRST programs possible.
As an event volunteer you will:
- receive training for your volunteer role
- have access to year-of-service pins and other recognition items
- be part of a community with a vision for the future

Technical and non-technical event volunteer roles for every level are available.
Steps to become assigned as an Event Volunteer
01. Create an Account
Create an account in the FIRST Dashboard by clicking the button below and completing the form.
02. Choose an Event
Once you’ve found an event near you, then click the Volunteer Registration tab in the FIRST Dashboard & choose ‘Event Volunteering’. Filter events by location/ program and select an event
03. Select Roles
Choose up to five roles you are interested in and apply.
04. Complete Screening
Complete a free and easy youth protection background check.
What to expect after you apply.
You will receive an email from your local event coordinator if you are assigned to a volunteer role.
You will receive training specific to your assigned job either before or on the morning of the event. You should receive communications from your event organizer about whether training is required.
