VOLUNTEER FOR FIRST
Volunteers make up 99% of the FIRST workforce.
FIRST volunteers are part of a global robotics community preparing young people for the future. FIRST competitions and events are made possible by volunteers, including employees of corporate sponsors, teachers, parents, community leaders, and others. From a few hours to events all year long, every role helps students grow, learn, and thrive.
As an event volunteer you will:
- receive training for your volunteer role
- have access to year-of-service pins and other recognition items
- be part of a community with a vision for the future

Steps to become assigned as an Event Volunteer
Begin
01. Create an Account
Create an account in the FIRST Dashboard by clicking the button below and completing the form.

02. Choose an Event
Once you’ve found an event near you, then click the Volunteer Registration tab in the FIRST Dashboard & choose ‘Event Volunteering’. Filter events by location/ program and select an event
APPLY
03. Select Roles
Choose up to five roles you are interested in and apply.

04. Complete Volunteer Requirments
- A free and easy youth protection background check
- FIRST Youth Protection Program Training
- One-time Livescan fingerprint background check
- A free online Mandated Reporter Training
What to expect after you apply.
You will receive an email from your local event coordinator if you are assigned to a volunteer role.
You will receive training specific to your assigned job either before or on the morning of the event. You should receive communications from your event organizer about whether training is required.
