New Calfornia Volunteer Requirements

AB506 – California YPP Clearance Status Updates

To keep our youth participants safe and meet California state law, adults have two new registration steps to complete—in addition to your standard FIRST background check and Youth Protection training.

To comply with California’s AB 506 law, all volunteers who work with youth for 16+ hours in a month or 32+ hours per year must now complete two additional safety steps:

  1. A one-time Livescan fingerprint background check through the California Department of Justice
  2. A free online Mandated Reporter Training

Please review the full instructions in the Staying Compliant with Local Volunteer Requirements blog and complete these steps.  Additional resources and forms can be found in the “Local YPP State Requirements for California” tab on the Youth Protection Program page.
